Established at the end of the 60s in San Rocco al Porto-Milan (today province of Lodi), Formec is a leading company in the Italian food market under its two main brand names, Biffi and Gaia. This success has been growing during the years, fueled by a combination of continuous investment in research.
Everything started with mayonnaise: with this product Mr. Pietro Casella, founder of Formec, started doing business in a time when canned food was an exception, especially in Italy. His intuition was to believe in the evolution of the food industry, in the development of food retailers and new consumer trends.
This vocation to innovation still inspires our business that tries to anticipate market needs with a particular focus the most developed segments which drive the demand.

The headquarter and warehouse are located in the middle of a wonderful park where there are a small lake and a sports centre dedicated to the employees and their families. In the big park there’s the Corte Biffi (Biffi Court), a prestigious guest-room where you can taste our specialties during meetings and events supported by Formec, like sports or recreational happenings actively promoting the local cultural initiatives.
